INDEPENDENT SHOPPING RESEARCH NO ASSUMED EQUIVALENCE
REVEAL THE DUPES

Frequently Asked Questions About Dupes

Does a dupe mean exactly the same product?

No. “Dupe” is informal shopping language. Two items might look similar or share a purpose without having the same formula, materials, manufacturing origin, quality or performance. Our comparisons specify the particular kind of similarity being discussed.

Do you test every product?

No. Some comparisons are based on published specifications and primary sources. Others may include genuine hands-on use. The evidence label and article research notes tell readers which applies. We do not claim to have physically tested an item simply because we have compared its specifications.

How is a dupe different from a counterfeit?

A lookalike marketed under its own identity is not necessarily a counterfeit. An item represented as an authentic branded product when it is not raises different concerns. See Dupe, Alternative or Counterfeit? for the distinction and practical shopping checks.

Why aren’t prices shown for every product?

We only enter a price when we have a supportable listing and currency. Prices are snapshots and can change quickly. Blank information is deliberately presented as unknown rather than guessed or converted at an assumed exchange rate.

Can brands pay to appear in a comparison?

Commercial arrangements must be disclosed. Editorial selection and outcomes should not be sold as independent findings. Our advertising policy explains the separation.

Can I submit an alternative I found?

Yes. Use the reader submission form with both product names and a source link if available. A suggestion enters a private review queue and may not become a published comparison.

Who writes and checks these articles?

Each article has a linked WordPress author profile. Where a separate reviewer has been assigned and actually checked the work, that person can also be credited. The editorial policy describes our sourcing and corrections process.
